Marc Jacobs 2005 F/W (ANALYSIS)

THEME:MINIMALISM

To match with the theme, Marc Jacobs used different elements:

MUSIC...
He used a song called "Tonight, Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins, which was symbolized as the cycle of life and death, to display the theme of MINIMALISM, which means everything back to basics. The cycle of life and death is actually the humans' fundamental life stage:

COLORS...
The excessive use of ACROMATIC COLOR SCHEME with lots of BLACKS, GREYS and WHITES, which are fundamental in the color world, in this collection demonstrates MINIMALISM:

The use of PRIMARY COLORS also gives a MINIMALIST effect as REDS, BLUES and YELLOWS are also the bases in the color world:

Unexpectedly, he used an ANALOGIC COLOR SCHEME, which kind of mismatches with the theme......but I think it could be a hint of his next collection :)

DOMINANT COLOR:
BLACK
